And another lovely quilt. In all we have given away over 400 quilts now. And we are still making them. It has been a very moving experience for all the ladies involved.

This is a lovely quilt that was donated to flood affected people in my town. I quilted it with a baptist fan design and was very pleased with the result.

Firstly in the next few days it is my daughter Lorraine's birthday I would like to wish her many happy returns.

My friend Iris has been coming to my home and learning to use my machine. this is a quilt she made for her DH Colin.The fabrics are amazing. Iris chose an E2E of carpentry tools to funish off this quilt.It looks great. Good job Iris.

This lovely Dresden plate quilt is beautifully appliqued with the finest of stitches. I quilted an all over design by Anne Bright called Brenda's Tulips. I am a big fan of purples and pinks.

Dear bloggers.I am sorry I haven't posted for a while but I have been in the midst of the floods here in Victoria. The little town where I live had been inundated with flood waters. Barely any homes have escaped without major damage. There are about 200 homes and 800 people in Carisbrook. I live on a few acres outside of town and escaped the worst of it. Just some damage to fencing,pump etc. I am the lucky one. My home and studio are fine. here are some photos of the floods. I am back at work now and will try to post regularly again.

New garden and veradah

Hi I thought I would post some photos of my new grden path from the house to my studio and my new verandah and garden beds. The gardens were finished Early November. The first pic is looking down the verandah to the wood shed. The trees in the background are on the creek.
This photo is a shot of the side of the studio .In the background is the cows paddock and further back the trees line the creek which bends around 2 boundaries of our property. As you can see the rest of the yard is still a work in progress.

This is a view of my new garden path that leads from the house to the studio The dahlias are seedlings that normally grow about 10" to 12" high. They must like the sugar cane mulch because they have gone mad LOL.

This is a photo of me and my 2 dogs Monty the Border Collie and Buster the Fox Terrier walking down the path in the evening. The sprinkler system and the lights were a Christmas present from my DH.

29 fat quarter quilt

Jenny and a group of fellow quilters decided to make this lovely quilt. Each one looks so different with the fabrics chosen. Jenny made this one for her grandson. I love the fossil fern fabrics she chose. The photo does not do the colours justice,and it is a really nice quilt for a young man. I quilted it with maple leaves all over design. Hi, I hope you had a great New Years Eve last night .I went out to a local Highland Society club with some friends for dinner and a show. They even had the piping in of the haggis.

Well now down to more quilty things.
We have pictured here a quilt made using the Oceanica range of fabrics. The fabric panel is quirky and I love it. this quilt is for a boy so I quilted fish all over it. Isn't it great?

Reminder of Autumn

This is a very nice quilt of the traditional kind. The fabrics and the oak leaf design remind me of Autunm. The leaves were hand appliqued using metalic threads. I quilted it with an all over design of oakleaves and acorns.

This is my last post for 2010. Beautiful Bears

My customer embroidered these cute bears on her embroidery machine., then combined the blocks with plain blocks and borders for a new baby in her life. I quilted the plain blocks with a new design by Joanne knott of the Quilters Quilter. The trimmed background in the bear blocks is a design by Anita Shackleton. A very pretty cot quilt for a new baby.The binding was sewn on while still on the frame.

Fairies for Saffron

My customer made this georgous quilt for her granddaughter Saffron, from a book purchased at Quilters Bazaar. She couldn't help herself and added more applique and stitching and ended up with this beauty. I hope my quilting does it justice.The borders and background 2" squares are quilted using the statler and a fairy design by Anne Bright. Then I took the belts off and freehanded the blocks. It was lots of fun to do. The recipient of this quilt is one verrrry lucky little fairy princess. It is a shame I did not get a good photo of the whole quilt.

My customer visited a taylor in Vietnam and they gave her some scraps of silk. Carol has used them to make outfits for many different asian figures.They look awesome. I quilted it with an edge 2 edge design called Bamboo Butterfly by Kim Diamond. I trimmed out the cream blocks with the figures in them and used a background fill with trim by Anita Shackleton.This quilt is for one very lucky little granddaughter.

Christmas is Nigh!!

These lovely table runners along with 2 more have been made by a lovely customer of mine. She is in her 80's and has macula degeneration ,so I don't know if she will be quilting at this time next year. I dearly hope so. Anyway she has made thes for her children and her neighbour who looks after her animals when she is away. I did a Holly berry panto on them and trimmed out the centre blocks and customed around the applique centres. What a lovely memory for her family to keep.

Today we have a lovely quilt made by Leanne for her nephew. Leanne used oriental fabrics with maple leaves dominating the fabrics so I used a maple lef design to quilt it. This is very suitable for a male. Nice job Leanne.

I think this quilt was made using a Jelly Roll But can't swear to it. It would make a great scrappy quilt wouldn't it? I had fun quilting this with a nice scrolly,swirly design It suited this quilt well.

Lizzie Mae

Hello again.
Today I would love to show you this georgous medallion quilt called Lizzie Mae available in kit form or Block of the month from Quilters Bazaar. The centre medalloin is crosshatched behind the applique.the triangles ( browns) have a fleur flower triangle design by Joanne Knott in each one .All the plain blue blocks have feathered wreaths placed in them. Each star block has the same design in the star block border and the old maids puzzle block has its own design as does the third block .It does look amazing. Don't you just love the newspaper print fabric for the backing. The paper is from the same era as the fabrics. Enjoy

MyFor all the overseas visitors to my blog I would like to say hello and welcome. This quilt represents one of our Australian Rules Football Clubs called Hawthorne.The Hawks for short. My customers husband is a sign writer and drew up he central applique. It is very realistic Her son will just love this quilt for sure. I did an all over design of footballs and what looks like flames but I trimmed out the centre medallion and outline quilted the hawks head and did sunray lines behind as a background fill. As a Collingwood supporter I have to say this quilt is very ,very nice.

1930's daisy quilt

Today I have another hand pieced and appliqued quilt by Esmae. This time using 1930's fabrics. It is a lovely fresh looking quilt that reminds me of spring. I Trimmed out the applique, outlined around them to make them pop, and used a double line background fill. I used a Kim Diamond feather in the white border and an Anne bright flower border on the piano key border. I know I say it all the time but I really like this quilt.

This dear customer had he 80something birthday(it is a secret how old) on Thursdayand is still making quilts This one is for her great grand son, who is 3. I quilted it with an all over design of motorbikes and swirls. Pat does a wonderful job.

Kim Diamond from "Sweet Dreams Quilt Studio" designed this cute quilting design for me for just this type of quilt. The design is called "Country Mouse" and has a doormouse,a squirrell, and a rabbit standing in clothes.It is sooo cute. I will be able to use this design quite a bit.

today I have some photos of a quilt made with 1930's fabrics I custom quilted the white blocks with a block design called double heart block by Joanne Knott of " Its a Quilt Thing". the 9 patches have point to point curves and the borders were a feather design. log cabins in the sun

Hi. This quilt is huge 98 x 108" from memory. It looks stunning.Some of the fabric has chillies on it so I placed a border of chillies around the outside. The central log cabins are quilted with an all over design ,but you will think it is custom to look at it. The design is called Mexican Sun. It is half suns in a row so I flipped every second row to make whole suns.I know I keep saying this but It does look fantastic.What do you think?

I have just finished this lovely sunbonnet Sue for my customer. I used lovely Anne bright deigns in the borders and sashings.In the blocks I took off the belts and freemotion quilted ,grass,flowers,bushes sun rain,clouds,butterflies and even cows to name but a few things. I used mostly clear monofilament thread in the top as there would have been too many thread changes. It was fun to do and customer is delighted .This is for her granddaughter.

Glenys has made 2 lovely quilts from her stash of Kaffe Facett (spelling? ) fabrics.
this one is her favourite with all the bright colours and the red border to set it off. I have quilted it using a beautiful bright pink thread with large flowers. The backing fabric for both quilts is white damask fbric. It worked well.

How is this for a quilt made from the left overs? I know I would love it. I quilted this with a bright green thread and a large leafy design as Glenys requested. It looks great.

Here is a georgous quilt called Samsara Spin.Named for the range of fabric called Samsara. It is a stack n wack quilt=wall hanging. I used a set by Kathy Olsen to quilt the blocks.A paisley triangle block and border by Kim Diamond. Red thread on the black back looks stunning.Customer made labels using broderie purse flowers from the left over fabric. Very effective.

this is a georgous little bunny quilt. I am sorry i don't know how to rotate the picture yet.This little floor uilt has a soft minky batting.and a double layer of polydown batting.It is very light,soft and cuddly. I quilted it with a design called puffy clouds and my customer was delighted with the end result.

Here it is in the frame with my trusty machine "Fred" working away stitching out the design.

Today we have a beautiful quilt called "spinning stars" I have custom quilted it using block designs called fleur flower from Joanne Knotts pattern club. See how the design curls around the Flying Geese blocks in the stars ? I love these designs they are sooo versatile.the sashings are a simple loopy border and stars in the cornerstones. Customer requested black thread. This quilt is 100" square. What a beauty!!

This is Jenny's sampler quilt. Jenny has only been quilting for a little over a year and she is doing lovely work. Hello I am sorry I havent posted for a few days but I have been under the weather (another way of saying not feeling well here in Australia).
Today I have a really cute wall hanging for you to check out. This one was made by my friend Helen for her wall in the kitchen. She felt she needed a change from her farmyard quilt,and " a change is as good as a holiday" they say.
You can make this quilt by using two panels from Quilters Bazaar . I quilted it with an all over design in the centre called Lil Chickadees by Anne Bright and a scolloped border in the green border.

Here is another Quilt aid Quilt from last year with a different finishing kit.I used a feather block that looked like feather triangles in each of the pieced blocks so the applique looks like it is framed in feathers. The applique blocks were all individually quilted with the belts off using different background fills and outlining and frames.This is a beautiful quilt and will be a gift for a very special friend of the quilter.

I am sorry this cute little boys quilt is not displayed very well I was in a hurry and didn't realose until it ewas too late. This quilt is 100" long and 64" wide. so it is quilte large. The squares and borders have a feature fabric of bicycles. Just the thing for a little boy. I again used an e2e by Anne Bright this one is called bounceand when you see the back view you can see it gives the quilt lots of movement. I know this little fellow will love this quilt.

The girls at Busy Bees have been busy making a sampler quilt each. This is the one Trinsa made. She had photos of her fmily digitised and sewed them out on her embroidery maching and incorporated them in the centre block.This is now a beautiful memory quilt.Well done Trinsa. Almost Black and White

Almost black and white is the name for this beautifully handpieced dresden plate quilt After adding the rose border my customer realised that it is not black and white but black and cream hence the name.Esmae sows beautiful hand piecing and it is a pleasure to quilt for her. Even made the sufolk puffs. She wanted black thread on this one so I had to be careful not to quilt it too heavily.I believe it worked well.I love this quilt and it is the colours of my favourite football team.Come on the maggies(magpies).

I was really taken with this quilt for some reason. The colours and the design really appealed to me. I custom quilted it using elements of a set digitised by Joanne Knott from The Quilters Quilter. It is still a favourite of mine.

Hi .This is the creek at my place that my business is named after. It hasn't looked like this for about 10 years. We have had lots of lovely rain and the creek "Deep Creek" rose about 8 feet. It has receded a bit now but we are expecting more rain in the next few days. It is lovely to live here.

This is the weir at Lannecoorie,not far from where I live. It has not looked like this for over 10 years. Yay!!!!!

I love the rich colours of urples and greens in this French Braid Quilt made out of a Jelly Roll of batik fabrics. This is the result of a quilt in a day class available from Quilters Bazaar. The girls have great fun in these classes and still have something to show for their days work.
This was quilted with an all over design of ferns.

This lovely stitchery quilt has blocks with things such as the birth dates of the maker ,her husband , and their children.Their favourite cats present and passed , and other cherished memories. I could feel the love in this quilt as I was quilting it.

Hello again.
This is a "Boston Commons" quilt It was a great learning curve for me as the borders,blocks,and triangles were all too big to quilt in one pass. I learnt how to successfully divide blocks to make them fit into the space I could quilt then to roll on the quilt and rejoin the blocks with no spaces and no tell tale signs. I used designs by Anne Bright,and I was very pleased with the finished quilt as was the owner.

Check out this georgous baby quilt with bluebird stitcheries. My friend wanted double hobbs polydown batting for puffiness.I then quilted it with a fluffy cloud design. The quilt came out beautifully cuddly and lightweight.

I was so taken with the blocks in this kaliedescope quilt i forgot to take a photo of the whole quilt. Customer requested e2e called Botanical Blossoms. She had seen it on another kaliedescope quilt I had quilted. This quilt did look very special when finished.

Double Wedding ring

I quilted a huge double wedding ring and I only got 1 photo of it that is any good. The first photo shows some of the fullness in the quilt which I was able to tame with quilting.

This is a beautiful sampler quilt with 16" blocks. I quilted it with an e2e of poppies as there were poppies in the dominant fabric and also on the backing fabric. It looked beautiful.

This really lovely quilt by Robbie was fun to quilt with an all over design.I really like this pattern with the secondary design of the circles around the red spinning stars. I have made this quilt in autumn jewel tones and it looks just as striking. Great Job again Robbie!!

I have been on holiday to New Zealand ,then my computer played up.I have just got a new desktop computer and am learning how to use it.
This is my first Mariners Compass quilt. Such a stunning one to start with. All the blocks around the quilt are quilted differently also .It was daunting to start with but once I started I just loved doing it. I hope you like it.

This huge scrappy quilt is made using the bow tie block,although it does look like a snowball block because of her colour placement. The size is 100"x 100". A very nice quilt made using scraps she had on hand and quilted with a feathery e2e.

Thisw georgous quilt is called Joy of Life. and doesn't it give you that feeling? My customer wanted custom quilting with freehand hearts and loops in the background and outline around the applique.She also requested a feather border. I did some quilting on the applique to hold down the large areas and give dimension to the flowers.

This very pretty "pink"quilt has been quilted with an E2E called wild roses. I used pale pink thread.I think it turned out a treat.

I call this the seaside quilt.

It is a grandmothers braid of course. Made in a class at

Quilters Bazaar. This quilt is made from a jelly roll type flat pack using batik fabrics, and can be made in a class in just one day.
I call it the seaside quilt because of the colours in it.And then I quilted it with a seaweed design.I just love it.

OOps, I have now edited my post LOL Hello, I have been quilting up a storm lately,I have done a lonestar quilt and a stitchery quilt. I have no photos as my battery charger was playing up.I will have to ask my Dear Daughter,Lorraine from Quilters Bazaar to take photos when they are picked up so I can brag about them LOL.
Here we have a lovely quilt very suitable for the man in your life. The design is called day and night. The maker is in her 70's and still quilting up a storm.This lady has macula degeneration and is slowly going blind. She has finished another quilt since this one and it is in the queue. I quilted this with an all over design called in the moment.

This really cute baby quilt was made by a very excited grandmother to be .Trinza always does a beautiful job of her piecing and was no different with her applique A really lovely way to use up scraps or make an eye spy quilt.

This beautiful appliqued rose of Sharon is all hand pieced and needle turn applique. Esme always does a beautiful job and I love quilting for her. I used a cross hatch fill with trim behind the appliqued blocks and Point to Point diamond pattern in the red sashes.The outer border had a Dogwood rose design that complimented the applique.

This is a great use of the Drunkards Path block and batik fabrics to give a stunning quilt. The photos do not do it justice. Quilted with a swirly all over design

This quilt shows a very good use of colour and looks very effective from a distance. It is an I spy quilt for a child which I quilted with a design called dragonfly fantasy as they are whimsical dragonflies. Another lovely quilt. I am extremely fortunate to be quilting some lovely quilts.

This beautiful,delicate quilt was quilted with an all over design of heart flowers by Anne Bright.

This lovely quilt of Vicki's is in soft greens and apricot using Asian themed fabrics . I used a new design from Anne Bright called In the Moment. It looks like the water in the background of the crysanthemum fabric.Love this quilt too.

Another lovely quilt from Vicki, this has a lovely border and I echoed the flowers in the quilting.The design is called wild roses by Kim Diamond. Another nice one Vicki.

Here is another offering from a prolific quilter.She asked for an all over design of strawberries,therefore we called it strawberry shortcake.

This georgous quilt was made to use up the border print. The quilter fell in love with it and wanted to make a quilt using it. It worked out nicely, I love it. It has been quilted with a design called simply roses in an all over design.

This blue and white dresden plate quilt is the first quilt made by this customer .It is for her own bed. My customer wanted an all over design of flowers not too loose. Bloomingdale by Anne Bright was just right. I had fun quilting this one

A pair of bears wallhangings. These 2 wallhangings were hand appliqued by the owner and then I crosshatched the background and did some freehand in the applique to make it pop. The quilter made one for herself and one for her friend.Arent they sooo cute?

Essence of Spring

This is a beautiful quilt designed and sold in a block of the month kit by Australian designer Dianne Johnston. It is 101" square. This beautiful quilt was appliqued and pieced by Pat.She is in her 70's and it only took her about 3 years.Pat also finished other things in this time. If I started to applique this top now I am sure I still wouldn't be finished if I lived to be 100. LOL. Essence is quilted with designs digitised by American designer Laurie Thomas to compliment the applique. And hand guided outlines.I also used a sash design by Janice b.
Congratulations Pat this is a show stopper.

I Spy with my little eye.

This fantastic and very colourful eye spy quilt has a photo of the recipient right in the middle of it. I quilted this with an all over design of animals and trimmed out the photo so no stitches went over the image.Each group within a square has a theme, for example, jungle ,farm animals,sea creatures. It is another very nice quilt made by Gill.
